Privacy Policy
We keep this short and honest. This page explains exactly what we collect when you reach out, why, and how to have it deleted.

This Privacy Policy applies to rlscustomcarpentry.com(the “site”), operated by RLS Custom Carpentry, LLC(“RLS,” “we,” “us”). We are a family-run contractor in Lucerne, CA. We are not a large data company — we only collect what we need to answer you and quote your project.
What we collect, and why
We collect information in just one place: the contact form (the “Message Us” button and the contact page). When you submit it, we receive what you choose to give us:
- Your name and phone number — so we can reach you about your project (required).
- Your email address — if you choose to provide it, as an alternate way to reach you (optional).
- Your message — the details of what you need built.
- An optional voice memo— if you record one instead of typing. We use a third-party speech-to-text service (Groq, running OpenAI’s Whisper model) to turn the audio into text so we can read it. The audio and the transcript are used only to understand your request.
- Basic technical context — the page you contacted us from, your browser type, and screen size. This is included in the message so we can reproduce any website problem you report. We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies on this site.
We do not knowingly collect information from children, and the site is not directed to anyone under 18.
How your information is sent and stored
When you submit the form, your details are emailed to us through Zoho Mail so they land in our inbox. If you recorded a voice memo, it is transcribed by Groq and the text is included in that email. We keep these inquiry emails in our mailbox for as long as we may need them to do business with you — for an active project, and for a reasonable period afterward for our records — and then we delete them.
We do not sell or share your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. The only parties who ever touch it are the service providers that help us deliver the form itself — our email host (Zoho) and, only if you record a voice memo, the transcription service (Groq) — plus anyone we are legally required to give it to. That’s it.
Your choices and your rights
You can ask us at any time to tell you what we have, correct it, or delete it. Just email rob.schmetzer@gmail.com or call 707-513-8722, and we will take care of it.
California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to know what personal information a business collects, the right to request deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Because we do not sell or share your information, there is nothing to opt out of — but you can still make any of these requests using the email or phone number above, and we will honor them. This policy is also intended to meet the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA).
